From Fair Go's banking page, checked 7 October 2026 and 7 October 2026. Network fees are separate: they're paid to the Bitcoin network by whoever sends the coins, not to Fair Go.
On-chain Bitcoin or Lightning?
Both move bitcoin, but in different ways:
- On-chain payments are recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain. New blocks arrive about every ten minutes on average, and each adds a confirmation. You pay a network fee set by demand, which can be small on a quiet day and much higher when the network is busy.
- Lightning is a payment network built on top of Bitcoin for fast, small payments. You pay an invoice, usually shown as a QR code, and it settles in seconds for a tiny fee. You need a wallet that supports Lightning, and invoices expire if you don't pay them promptly.
For small deposits, Lightning is cheaper and quicker. For withdrawals, Fair Go's list names Bitcoin, not Lightning, so plan to receive to an ordinary on-chain address unless the cashier offers otherwise.
Depositing Bitcoin, step by step
- In the cashier, choose Bitcoin or Lightning Bitcoin and enter the amount (from $25 on-chain, from $5 on Lightning).
- Add WELCOME if you're claiming a welcome match.
- Copy the address, or scan the QR code or Lightning invoice shown for this deposit. Don't reuse details from an earlier one.
- Check the first and last few characters of the pasted address against the screen. Malware that swaps copied addresses exists.
- Send the amount shown. For on-chain, set a network fee high enough to confirm in reasonable time.
- Wait for the network. Fair Go describes deposits as instant, but an on-chain payment still needs the network to pick it up.
Withdrawing in Bitcoin
Bitcoin is one of Fair Go's 2 fee-free payout methods. The usual rules apply: verification first, $100 to $2,500 per request, $7,500 a week, and processing within 2 business days of the request, by Fair Go's account. After that, the network takes over.
- Use an address you control. Either a wallet where you hold the keys, or an exchange account that accepts deposits from gambling sites. Some exchanges restrict or question gambling-related transfers, so check yours first.
- Use a fresh receiving address from your wallet for each withdrawal, and double-check it before you submit.
- Know the conversion. Fair Go quotes its limits in Australian dollars, so expect the cashier to convert your balance into bitcoin. The rate and timing it uses aren't published in the pages we checked.
Our withdrawal time guide explains each stage of the payout clock, and the verification guide covers the identity check that comes first.
Common Bitcoin mistakes, and how to avoid them
- Paying an expired Lightning invoice. Generate a fresh one if you've been away from the screen.
- Setting the on-chain fee too low. A cheap fee can leave a deposit unconfirmed for hours when the network is busy.
- Sending from an exchange without allowing for its withdrawal fee, so less than the $25 minimum arrives.
- Sending Bitcoin Cash to a Bitcoin address, or the other way round. They're different coins.
- Giving a withdrawal address you no longer control, such as an old exchange account.
Price risk: the part nobody advertises
Bitcoin's price moves around the clock. Coins worth $100 when you buy them may be worth more or less by the time you send them, and the same applies after a withdrawal lands. Two habits keep this in check:
- Buy only what you're about to deposit, and deposit it promptly.
- Decide before you withdraw whether you'll keep the bitcoin or sell it straight away. Holding turns a casino win into a separate decision about a volatile asset.
If you'd rather avoid price swings on the way out, eZeeWallet is the other fee-free route; see our eZeeWallet guide. For the other coins Fair Go accepts, see our USDT, Ether, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash guide.
Records and tax
Keep a simple log of every deposit and withdrawal: the date, the dollar amount, the bitcoin amount and the transaction ID. It settles support queries quickly and helps at tax time. The ATO generally treats crypto as an asset for capital gains tax, so buying, selling or swapping coins around your play can have tax consequences of its own. Get advice for your situation. When you're set, make a Bitcoin deposit at Fair Go.
